We’ve had a few customers in the Studio asking about the TPD vaping regulations that are coming into effect soon.

But don’t worry, we’re here to let you know what it all means and reassure you that when it comes into effect, we’ve got you covered.  Oh!  And we’ve got a sale on to make sure you can stock up on juices before the regulations start in May.

 TPD Vaping Regulations Sale

There’s been lots of talk and a bit of confusion about what is actually happening, so let’s break it down.

What is the TPD?

TPD is the Tobacco Products Directive that will come in to force this May.  The TPD vaping regulations are an EU directive that will still come into force despite the Brexit vote as it was made law in the UK in May 2016.  It will only be repealed if Parliament decide to change the laws.  If you don’t agree, or are unhappy with the TPD vaping guidelines, you can sign a petition here to ask to repeal the TPD vaping regulations.

What does this mean for vaping?

Minimum eJuice bottle size.  The size of eJuice refills cannot exceed 10ml.  So say goodbye to 60ml, 30ml and 15ml bottles that have been available, but be assured that we will get all your favourites (as long as they have been registered, see below…) in the new 10ml bottles!

Yes, we know, that means a lot more environmental waste, a lot more bottles and a rise in costs.  However, we will make sure that prices stay as low as possible to all of our customers, and will also be doing deals on multi buy juices too.  We have already got Cuttwood 10ml Bottles in the Studio, so no missing out on some of our most popular Vape flavours!

Maximum nicotine strength of Juices to be 20mg (taken down from 24mg).  Fortunately, we have only ever stocked a highest nicotine amount of 18mg in our juices.  Luckily for all of our customers this part of the regulations will not apply if you buy your juices from the Studio.  We put this down to only ever offering the best Vape Kits you can find.  With better Vapes and more powerful batteries, you shouldn’t need to use a very high nicotine strength as things like airflow control and adjustable wattage help to make the perfect Vaping experience for you.

Maximum tank capacity of 2ml.  This means that all tanks available after May 20th will be much smaller than ones you have been used to.  Yes, and it also means that you will have to fill them more regularly.  But we will always be on hand to provide coils for any tanks you have bought in the Studio to make things as simple as possible when the time comes to change to a new tank.  And you don’t have to change your tank if you have a larger one, there is no one policing the pre-bought goods that you have, so perhaps now is a good time to stock up?

One trouble is that we don’t know yet whether the coils for the older tanks will be available after the TPD vaping regulations come into effect.  We will keep you posted and informed of any information as soon as we know.

All products must be registered and tested for sale in the UK/EU.  Every Vaping product; juices, tanks and all batteries and accessories have to be registered and meet all TPD vaping regulations guidelines.  All major brands (and many more!) have registered or are in the process of doing so.  Therefore this shouldn’t be too much of a worry, but does mean that we might see the range of products across the Vaping world could diminish a little.

Anything else?

Everything now has to be ‘childproof’.  All bottles will be childproofed (but hey, they already were…) as well as the tanks.  We have seen this already in some of the tanks from the Vaporesso Guardian tank with it’s 2 screw top filling design and the Joyetech eGo AIO with the childproof depress top.  And the tanks are supposed to be leak-proof.  No one has really been able to explain exactly what this means, or how it will be achieved (or enforced for that matter) but expect a few changes to tank designs…

Why do we have to have the TPD Vaping regulations?

To be quite honest, we can’t answer that, and neither can most Vape advocates.  Looking at the Government website, they say that:

“The TPD introduces new rules which ensure:

  • minimum standards for the safety and quality of all e-cigarettes and refill containers (otherwise known as e-liquids)
  • that information will be provided to consumers so that they can make informed choices
  • an environment that protects children from starting to use these products.”

OK, so no one can argue with any of those points!  However we don’t quite see how the rules brought in will ensure these things.

For now, we are still stocking the juices you’re used to in all sizes if they’re available and we have a sale on across some of our non TPD compliant ranges of eJuice!

We are also introducing the TPD vaping regulations compliant bottles of eJuice as they become available, as well as stocking the last of the bigger bottles, before they become unavailable.  Please bear with us as the manufacturers make changes to their products, as there might be a shortage in some of the popular products you can find in the Studio.

But for now, we remain committed to providing you with the best eJuice, Vape Supplies and information on Vaping.  Whether you are a novice Vaper & starting for the first time or a seasoned Pro stop by the Studio and get stocked up!
